Primm
Harmony, rhythm, a sound that envelops and hypnotizes. The music of Austin-based Primm is all that and more. With a sound that smacks of fusion, rock, R&B, hip-hop and even the Beatles, Primm is hugely entertaining, infinitely accessible and easy on the ears, heart and soul. Together for three years, the band’s self-titled album, Primm, was released about a year ago and sales have been brisk from fans that crave the band’s soulful sound, blazing guitar, and deep vocals of lead singer Ray Prim. The latest release of their second EP "don'tlookback" has experienced the same success. The band does just three cover songs – and those display the wide range of musical influences that permeate the band’s sound: one by Depeche Mode, one by Stevie Wonder, and one by The Beatles. Austin’s known as the “live music capital of the world,” and it’s a natural home for Primm. Contact Ray Prim at or at rayprim7 for booking information, and find out more about the band at their website at http://www.primminfo.com.
Jamie Krueger Band
Jamie Krueger is a musician among musicians. A native Austinite, Jamie is no stranger to the music scene. After playing guitar in such bands as Grain, Soul Stew, and Monk's Mountain in his teens, Jamie formed his own group called The Jamie Krueger Group. If you want to hear a REAL Texas Shuffle, listen to Jamie Krueger.
Elizabeth McQueen and the Firebrands
There's no more fitting title for Elizabeth McQueen's second album than Happy Doing What We're Doing, because that's just how this Austin, Texas-based singer feels about making music with her band The Firebrands. Happy Doing What We're Doing is her salute to England's little-known pub rock movement of the early 1970s. If Dinah Washington had hooked up with Nick Lowe and formed a band, they would have sounded like Elizabeth McQueen and the Firebrands. Mopac and The Blue Surburbans
Mopac and The Blue Suburbans are known as the famous Austin-based blues band that has rocked the technology society to its core for almost three years, Mopac has set the standard for the new generation of dot-com bands. Having jammed with such greats as Jimmie Vaughan and Monkey on the Bed, Mopac has wowed crowds of enthusiastic blues fans with their soulful renditions of the great blues classics.
Bill Jerram Band
The Bill Jerram Band plays vintage rock and roll. For them it's really all about the song. Bill's songs give a nod to the past, with an eye towards the future. Equally at home in Beatley power pop, shimmering southern soul or straight ahead roots music, these guys are playing their own form of American Music. And they let the music do the talking - check them out live, laying down the music they love with style - they hope you'll love it too. Chris Gray of the Austin Chronicle says of the band, "Exuberant roots-pop from the former Danglers frontman, who's learned lessons from Elvis Costello and Two Hoots and a Holler, among others, quite well indeed." Matt Odam of The Austinist says, "For the unitiated, singer-songwriter Jerram and his band meld a raucous mixture of country, rootspop, Americana rock and soul." Contact Bill Jerram at or at billjerram for booking information or go to their website for additional information about the band: http://www.billjerram.com or http://www.myspace.com/billjerramband
Catch a Dream
Catch a Dream is an exciting and eclectic six-piece ensemble that performs original guitar- and vocal-driven music with classic folk and rock influences. Band leader and principal songwriter Doug Marsh, a Vancouver native and longtime Austin resident, says the band's music focuses on a positive approach to life — and this optimism is instantly apparent in the group's joyous melodies and introspective lyrics. Contact Doug Marsh for booking information at dougmarsh and see the band's website at http://catchadreamband.com.
Flat Creek Coyotes/Permakids
Flat Creek Coyotes & Permakids join together to create orginal music from the "get go". FCC are the creation of Mark & Beth with our hot lead guitar player, Jason, from Permakids. We are progressive, folkish, contemporary, & great laid back music!!!!
Eric Hisaw Band
Eric Hisaw is true to the bone -- he sings it like it is. A native of New Mexico, Eric's songs are desert jeweled treasures, stories of weathered people we all know at the end of the day. No Depression magazine described Eric's last record: "Never Could Walk The Line is smart, street wise, and raggedly hip". Eric will release his third solo album Spring 2006. His website is http://www.river-bottom.com/hisaw.html. For booking information, please contact Laura Thomas at Comboplate Booking, , http://www.comboplatebooking.com.
Tempo Challenged
Steve, Al, Renita, and Leigh Ann offer a distinct four-part harmony similar to the 1960’s band, "The Mamas and The Papas". Leigh Ann and Steve's soulful lead singing accompanied by Al and Renita singing back-up, Steve and Al's guitar playing, Al and Renita's harmonicas, Renita's flute, and Lee Anne's UN-tempo challenged percussion offers a rich, classic sound with original songwriting and covers of some of their favorites songs. The foursome provides a well-balanced blend of rock, folk, blues, jazz, traditional, and country music. LIX
LIX was formed in 2003 in Austin Texas with combined music experience of over 50 years and has been compared to the B-52s by the Austin Music Network. Rock'N Roll with a little punk is the only way to describe their original music and the band performs in costume of the month. 'Lix has entertained many at Gino's Italian Garden, 710 Club, MoMo's, Houston Art Car Festival, Dallas Herman Sons and many other venues. Members Debo Portie, Ann Eve! ritt, Andy Fuertsch, Linda Johnson and Bubba Bane recently recorded their original music at Music Lane Recording and anticipate a CD release in early Spring 2006.
Southpaw Jones
Southpaw treads lightly on the thin ice of irreverent honesty. Left-handed, he turns his guitar upside-down to play comfortably. He turns the world upside-down to make his audience uncomfortable. Having
lived in Houston, Nashville, and LA, he now reaches out from Austin to
findminded folks who thirst for sing-able melodies and one-of-
a-kind lyrics.
These are just a few of the many performers that will be entertaining our runners throughout their journey through the city. So come out and support our runners (you'll have plenty of music to listen to)
